Megan Meier was thirteen when she committed suicide over the weekend.. The story that lead to her death was that she befriended a boy around her age named Josh, a boy she met over MySpace. He was sixteen and he was 'hot'. She was interested in him, he seemed interested in her. They communicated online for a while. Megan told her parents about him because she was excited that someone finally seemed interested in her. Megan put all of her trust into this boy, and he would treat her like royalty. He was an angel.

Then suddenly, he turned on her.

Out of the blue, he would call her names, say things to her that would shatter her already low self esteem. She had contemplated suicide already, at the young age of eight years old. She was on anti-depressants. She felt fat and ugly. She had been losing weight though, something that she was proud of. But when Josh, the boy she admired so much, started calling her these vile names and saying things like, "You don't deserve to live, life would be so much better if you were gone," she didn't know how to handle it. People posted bulletins about her calling her a slut, calling her fat. Rumours circulated about her, breaking down every shred of confidence she had gained from trying to convince herself of otherwise.

So, believing that no one cared about her and that she had nothing to live for, she hanged herself.

Her mother found her body hanging in her closet.

The real tragedy of it all?

There is no Josh.

Josh was just a fictional character made by the mother of one of Megan's former friends. A parent with a family and daughter of her own had purposely tried to destroy this innocent, nearly-fourteen year old girl in order to gain revenge for something Megan had done to her daughter. She succeeded, and now Megan is dead.

How could a mother do something like this? What kind of sick and twisted mind would actually go out and purposely try to break down a young teenager by gaining her trust and then building her up for a breakdown? What kind of parent would do that when they have a child of their own?

Life has millions of unanswered questions, and those are just some of them.

I think that the mother who posed as Josh deserves to be punished. She's receiving no sort of penalty whatsoever because there's no law that says you can't pretend to be another person online. And according to the textbooks, she didn't kill Megan, Megan killed herself.

I don't think that's fair.

There's no fucking justice in his goddamn world.

She was only thirteen.

That was written by Livia Tsang. To me, the parents who 'killed' Megan should get arrested because they bullied her mentally by pretending to be 'Josh'. She was still young, she doesn't deserve any of this.
